Sweetest style of fortified wine produced on the portuguese island of Madeira, situated 400 miles off the coast of west Africa. Made from tinta negra grapes grown on steeply terraced slopes of volcanic soil, this wine achieves its unique characteristics through the estufagem process. It is then matured in oak cask for up to 3 years before blended and bottled. This wine is the richest of all 3 year old madeiras. It has a luscious, soft texture, distinctively full honeyed and mellow. It is ideal as an after dinner drink.
