Medium sweet style of fortified wine produced on the portuguese island of Madeira, situated 400 miles off the coast of west Africa. Made from tinta negra grapes grown on steeply terraced slopes of volcanic soil, this wine achieves its unique characteristics through the estufagem process. It is then matured in oak cask for up to 3 years before blended and bottled. This medium rich wine is full bodied and fruity with a weel rounded flavor and attractive "smoky" complexity. Delightful at any time between meals. It goes well alongside the dessert ar cheese.
